I had a new carrier to use today in Annapolis: the Patapum for toddlers! It's a more conventional looking carrier than my usual sling, lots of buckles and such, but it's pretty comfy. Like a backpack, only for babies :) I got it for taking long walks and for doing housework when the Sophiebean is cranky -- it's more dishwashing/vacuuming/laundryfolding-friendly than a sling, and distributes her weight on both shoulders for longer walks, though I don't think I was much less comfortable in the sling than with this. Angela at Attached to Baby (the store I linked to above) has been a real peach for ordering -- the one I ordered was going to be delivered at home on Thursday, and I mentioned that to her, and she offered to overnight me a second one so I could have it on our vacation! She sent it Friday, and I got it Saturday. Can't beat service like that! I think when she's less busy, I'll be working with her on an exclusive sleeping baby productions sling for her store. I don't usually wholesale (it makes slings way more expensive than selling them directly), but with an exclusive fabric, that will be less apparent to the consumer :)

Speaking of SBP, I've given out an average of 4 business cards per day, as opposed to 1-2/week at home. Women just keep coming up to me and asking where I got my sling :) I printed up some cards with my website on one side and the BabyWearer on the other, so people don't get the impression that mine is the only sling out there :) I'd like them to buy mine, but baby carriers are a pretty individual thing; what works for one woman can be desperately uncomfortable for another. So I can spam my business and perform a public service at the same time, LOL. On the other hand, there are so many new parents who don't come up to me, and I wish they would! I saw a mom in a Bjorn who just looked so uncomfortable -- she was readjusting the thing constantly, and never did seem to get it the way she wanted it. And there have been a lot of parents who just looked harried -- trying to push a stroller for a baby plus keep track of one or two older kids with no free hands. I wish I could carry a stock of slings to just give away :P
