All the cool kids are doing it...

How many times has someone on your friends list posted about something and you were really confused, but you didn't want to ask because you knew you SHOULD know? How many times have you felt 'guilty' asking a close LJ friend a question that should be 'obvious'?

Well, here's your chance.

If you've missed a few things, missed an entry and are confused, ask me any thing. Even something EXTREMELY basic, like where I live! I'm not allowed to get even slightly irritated at any of the questions - we've all missed things before. In turn, though, you must repost this in your own journal.

So, you know, feel free.

If I ever made it up to your neck of the woods could we (and kids) hang out? :)

I live in Dover, NH, and have done since 1996, when David and I got our first apartment (a year before we got married -- living in sin and all that ;). We were both undergrad students at the time, living on David's small salary from work, and our parents paid our rent that first year (they are great!). The next year we got married, went to grad school, and then were living on his stipend and my work-study grant. Whee! Lots of ramen noodles and 4 for $1 mac and cheese, those years.

Crafty stuff. Well, I got a C in home economics in middle school, and figured that was it  Then I went off to school (1991), realized that my "style" was completely unrepresented in stores (not to mention I couldn't really afford to buy clothes that I liked), so started sewing my own clothes from easy patterns. I pretty much lived in flowing skirts and tunics for a long time. When we had Stephen, there were a lot of baby things I wanted to get -- sling, nursing pillow, etc. that either didn't come in colors/patterns/styles that I liked (I was aware of only the Over the Shoulder Baby Holder and MayaWraps for slings, and the Boppy pillow) so I made my own. Then I figured other women probably had the same issues, so I started posting stuff on my website (which I had put up initially on Geocities -- it's not there anymore, but my address in 1997 was http://www.geocities.com/atgens/forum/5225/).

My growing-up family was/is great -- we're very close. My parents were married from 1970 through 1995, which is not bad, considering their generation; they're much happier now that they're divorced and remarried, and my step-parents are awesome. My siblings -- Robyn, 2 years younger than me, and Eryk, 4 years younger -- and I are great friends, and although we don't see each other as often as we did when all of us lived in Dover, we're still close and the kids have a great relationship with them as aunts and uncles. I even like my in-laws and SIL/BIL :)

David and I have been happily married since 1996. We met in our co-ed dorm, fell in love, etc :) We both always knew we'd want kids. Stephen was born in 2000, Sophia in 2003, and we're trying for another one (yay!). I think most of the other stuff is on my website here and there.
