More indecision

Should I redesign my personal site (link in the left-hand column)? I can't decide! I like this as a motif:

because I am tired of the blue-ness of my site as it stands, as well as the too-eclectic fonts I use for navigation. Would also like to make the whole thing consume less bandwidth, using more text and fewer graphics, and clean it all up. That would make it easier for people to print, I think. That, and the whole "Reverend Jan" thing feels really five-years-ago to me; I just don't feel like that's my persona anymore.

On the other hand, I think my visitors have come to expect the look as it is. Plus, even though I used stylesheets and frames, so it won't take long to make the changes, there are always things that get lost in a redesign. I haven't gotten any negative comments about the current design, and indeed get compliments from time to time.

On the third hand, if I'm trying to be credible as a web designer, my own site should be the best of my work, and I don't feel that it is in its current incarnation. But is the alternative any better, or would you change things in that?

Thanks, invisible friends!

I think you should keep the "reverend" part somewhere in your logo... you've kind of branded yourself with it already, and people come to expect it... a LOT of people link to your baby crafts and such :D

I don't think there is anything wrong with updating your design, I try to do mine every 2 years at the least :)

I love the script and the type. I like the fountain pen. I like the phrase "at home on the web" because it's really descriptive of your familiarity and ease with this medium. I kind of like the open door in the computer, but I'm not crazy about the computer drawing itself. I'll miss "Reverend Jan" but I do understand if it's time for you to move on. :)

Two words: Rebel Sister.

I like the text parts of the logo better than the computer graphics, but I have to admit that I never really cared for the excessive use of fonts in your current design.

Change is good!

Thanks for your input!

Thanks, everyone! I decided to go ahead and change it. I kept Reverend Jan in a few places, and replaced the line drawings with pictures of my own computer. I also rearranged and tightened up some things (got rid of "Eclectica", for example, and put those files elsewhere).

Change is good!
