So, I'm thinking about this...

I turned 30 on June 17th. Into my fourth decade, hurrah!

I have been considering a small nostril piercing to celebrate. There's a place just up the street that does piercings. I've read up on it, and it sounds like the nostril is a fairly easy one to have done. I think I'd want a pretty small stud, rather than a ring. But I don't want it to look stupid, and I don't want to regret it in a couple of years. And I also don't really want certain family members (mostly Nana) to flip out if/when she sees it.

So, what do you think? Is this a passing pre-mid-life-crisis? Would I be a poser? Would teenagers laugh at me? Would Sophia yank it out of my nose? Should I try wearing bindi there for a while and see if I like the look of it, before taking the plunge? Help me decide, for I am the queen of indecision!

ah oh

OH, dear! And I thought I was liberal, but... I find myself hoping that you do not do this. Maybe because you are getting too old for it? One seldom sees anyone over 29 with a nose piercing. And also because I personally don't like the look of them. Once done, can they close up, like ear piercings? How about a nice violin tattoo instead?
Sorry,
yo mama

Tattoos hurt too much ;) I would be going for a teensy little gem of some sort, I think, rather than the more invasive-looking ring. Apparently the nostril piercing is the fastest closer -- one site said a new piercing could close in as little as 10 minutes. Leslie (David's sister) had hers close up very quickly, and she'd had them for 4 years at that point.
